In this program, we explore the cultural and political context as well as the lyrics…and of course how to dance to it, inspired by famous dancers Soheir Zaki, Nagua Fouad, and Fifi Abdou!


The song expresses Egypt's highly class-stratified society, with a great separation between rich and poor. Adaweia came from a poor background, but made it rich through his amazing singing voice and mastery of Arabic maqam.
