Shake it...but don't break it!!

This special package gives you access to the two programs of Shimmy Clinic and Dynamic Drum Solo.

You'll enjoy lifetime access to program videos, for a lifetime of shaking, shimmying, and hitting those accents!

Shimmy Clinic focuses on shimmies using legs and hips (including the "old-school" lower-back shimmy as well as the more modern leg/knee generated shimmies)...Shimmy mechanics with warmup, stretching, technique... and also how to practice in a "weird" way that pays off in being able to work your shimmy in different positions for standing and traveling. Stay safe, by supporting with quad and hamstring muscles, and have FUN!

Dynamic Drum Solo features a variety of accents, pops, and locks, in part inspired by my studies with Egyptian master instructors including Mona el Said and Randa Kamel. Whether you are dancing Egyptian-style or another form, you'll get many practical tips for keeping your solos fresh and fabulous, and your technique safe and strong.

This program also includes my "riff-framing" technique, which lets you improvise seamlessly and confidently even if you don't know what is coming in the drumming. Many dancers lose their strong body language when confronted with the fear of not knowing what is coming next in the drum solo. This method is how I overcame this, and it will help you too! Riff-framing helps you "buy time" to listen to the drum accents while still presenting a confident "frame" for the audience while you prepare internally.

The combination of these two programs will set you up for shimmy and drum solo success!

“Ranya Renee is very dedicated to helping you achieve understanding of the culture, music and dance. Also she has a keen eye to help you become the best dance version of you.”

 – Jahara (Jennifer Robinette), Oklahoma, USA

I have worked with Ranya live at a festival, via her DVDs, through her first Baladi Salon series and through the Ginger City Community membership. I have learnt a great deal from her analysis and movement breakdown. Ranya’s material is informative and inspirational. Her studies in yoga, Pilates and neuropsychology enhance her gift for teaching in an approachable way.

Ranya’s depth of knowledge of Egyptian dance and baladi, in particular, is unparalleled. She brings to teaching her experience performing internationally, her research and work with key Egyptian artists such as Mona Said, Nelly Fouad and Nany and musicians such as Nabawy, who played in Samia Gamal’s band and for Fifi Abdu. I highly recommend working with Ranya. She has a lot to offer as a teacher and mentor; not only is Ranya incredibly knowledgeable, she is warm, open and great fun.  I will go back to this material again and again.

This is my online video training on breathing well with different sections of the baladi, with LIFETIME ACCESS on the Ginger City members’ website.

Included is how to stay calm using breathing through the fast part - where you can apply your shimmy!

Dance-along practice drills and demonstrations/explanations of how to breathe for different rhythms so you can stay calm, oxygenated, and comfortable through your baladi, for more natural feeling, facial expression and presence. It also addresses the transition from introverted to extroverted over the course of a baladi progression, where the speed of the music gradually increases.

The material in this compact 42-minute program applies not just to baladi, but to all your Egyptian dance breathing needs! Rhythm- and tempo-based, it's applicable to other dance styles too. Breathing the right way can help you stay calm even while using your abdominal muscles and doing faster steps. You can't hear how the famous Egyptian dancers are breathing on their YouTube videos, but they are breathing, and they look relaxed even while doing complicated movements. This short program puts you on that path too.
